The Raspberry-Pi-APRS.pdf file recommends to remove PulseAudio which is an obsolete recommendation when PulseAudio was generally not stable on Raspbian. On modern Raspberry Pi OSes (Buster+), PulseAudio seems to work ok though it might still be worth recommending that users still use the dedicated ALSA "plughw" approach than using the "pulse" + configuring PulseAudio via the pavucontrol approach.
